Visual Expectations After LASIK
In the days to follow, you may notice minor symptoms such as dry eyes, sensitivity to light, fluctuating vision, glare and halos. This is a normal part of the healing process that will go away within days to weeks. In some cases, patients may experience these symptoms longer. Healing is an individual process so every patient will have unique experiences. However, the patient's prescription will indicate what he/she can expect. Below, we provide the likely outcomes.

Nearsighted Patients

Nearsighted patients undergoing LASIK generally return to functional vision the day after surgery. However, patients in their late 30's often experience difficulty reading for a short time after surgery. This is temporary and inexpensive over-the-counter reading glasses may be necessary to help with close vision. For patients with presbyopia, the doctor will prescribe reading glasses when the eyes have stabilized. Over-the-counter reading glasses can be used in the interim period.
